Local News Platforms
Getting coverage in a local newspaper can be difficult but here you can find some some advice about pitching a story about your project.
With so many channels out there now, from the more traditional local newspapers and posters in shop windows to social media and online forums, there is quite a lot to think about.
It can be a big challenge, but you don’t have to worry because we have ways to help you.
The types of things you will want to tell people
Below is a list of things you will need to tell people about your plans.
What is your project all about? Make sure you include all the exciting details about what you are doing.
What are you trying to achieve? Use examples of what the aim is and what difference the project could make.
When is it happening? Make sure you include as much information as possible, correct venue, postcode, dates and times to meet.
How can people get involved and help? Be clear about what you want people to do.
Where can people go for more information? You can provide a link to your website or your community project page on Do Something Good.
Who can people contact for more information? It might be a good idea to have an email address and a telephone number for people to contact.
Once you have all this information in one place, it will be easier to use it on different things like flyers and posters as well as sending out tweets and creating Facebook posts.
