Making your local area better
As a community, we are proud to call Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale, and Southall home
There are plenty of opportunities to make these towns even better places to live. Take part in doing simple, every day things to benefit the wider community, such as recycling more and helping to keep our parks and streets litter free. Or, if you want to become part of a larger project, join a local group and transform your neighbourhood into a space everyone can enjoy.
Here you will also be able to find help and advice on funding and getting your very own project started. You can also encourage others to get involved by simply posting your ideas to the community projects section of our website.
Playing a more hands-on role in the community provides a fantastic opportunity to get active and increase your physical health and well-being. It is also a great way to relieve stress, make new friends and transform spaces and neighbourhoods for the better.
How you can help

The Store Cupboard – supporting local people most in need
The Store Cupboard in West Ealing was founded in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, after local volunteers provided food to vulnerable people from the Charity of William Hobbayne in H...
Friars Gardens now a garden for everyone
An ‘unwelcoming’ patch of land with an ‘unwieldy’ gate as its entrance has been transformed into an impressive community garden.
Clearing up litter with a can-do spirit
Local people in Hanwell have been ensuring their green spaces are as clean as possible by organising regular litter picking and clear-ups targeting cans, bottles and any rubbish irresponsibly dropped in the area.
Acton Unframed and the art of a great community project
Creating a space which the entire community can enjoy requires collaboration – and a large part is about getting help and support from others in the local area.
Looking after public spaces
You might need the council’s permission, or you might need a bit of help, but I think a group of locals getting together to do something is quite powerful.
